Assistant Houseparent (Male) - Bruton, Somerset

Our client is a community secondary school for the children of the Bruton area, a leading provider of state boarding education, and the principal provider of post -16 education for the students of East Somerset. The School has approximately 270 boarders, and boarding represents an essential element of the school’s character and mission.
 
A vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and empathetic male Assistant Houseparent to join their highly committed boarding team.  Responsible for the welfare and pastoral care of our boarding students, resident house staff will undertake evening, wake-up and weekend duties providing appropriate pastoral support for those in their care. The successful candidate will have the ability to work and communicate with young people, excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and the desire and commitment to make a difference to young people’s lives and their experience of boarding.

Their students are a delight to work with: they are articulate, hardworking, well-motivated and display their 7 core values in the way that they treat each other. They pride themselves on their positive staff/student relationships.  The School has a strong team of staff who are caring, supportive and working with a ‘determination to be exceptional in all that we do’.

In return, they offer excellent CPD opportunities, a supportive staff body, the opportunity to work in a high performing State Boarding School together with the opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience for a career in education.  They also offer a shorter academic year (36 weeks), accommodation and meals during term-time.
