Our client is a co-educational boarding and day school for children aged 2½ - 13 in the heart of the Sussex countryside.  Working in a small, supportive team, their Matrons are at the very heart of school life and they play a pivotal role to ensure the provision of excellent standards of pastoral care and ensure the wellbeing and happiness of their pupils, including the provision of routine medical care when required.
 
In conjunction with our Head of Boarding, our Matronal team are key to creating a warm, home from home atmosphere, in which our pupils can feel safe, secure, and happy, to enable them to flourish and fulfil their potential as they embark on their learning journey. Our Matron's are continually attending to our pupils' varying needs that range from looking after pupils when they are unwell, listening and offering support when they are upset, to teaching pupils good manners, and being an excellent role model in showing consideration and respect for others.  In return you will be working within a supportive and experienced team, in a pivotal role with the ability to make a real difference to our pupil's journey through the school.
 
The successful applicant would have an excellent work-life balance, with the freedom of being off during the day and minimal weekend work.  In addition, as this is a term-time position of 33 weeks per year, there is plenty of opportunity to travel, pursue other activities and interests during the generous school holidays.
 
Whilst applications from those who have had previous matronal or relevant experience would be welcomed, they would also be open to considering applications from anyone who has a genuine interest in working with children and would like to gain experience in working in a boarding environment.
 
The salary for their Night Matron position will be between £21,902 and £24,561 FTE per annum.  (Starting salaries will be dependent on previous experience and qualifications).  In both instances, living onsite during term-time is a requirement of these roles. Fully subsidised accommodation will therefore be available for the successful applicants.
