Based in beautiful Westerham, Kent, our client is a local authority maintained school, supporting students 4-19 years with complex medical needs. Following a recent change in provision, the school is looking to recruit its own team of nurses to meet the needs of both day and boarding students.
They are seeking a Nurse Manager who would welcome the opportunity to be part of a new and exciting venture, helping to shape a revised model of practice delivery within their school. As part of a wider health team, they are keen to find an individual who enjoys working collaboratively to find solutions and who demonstrates empathy and understanding and who is uncompromising in their desire to attain the best care for their students.
Supported by a team of Health Care Assistants, their nurses will deliver staff training, which is evidence-based on a range of nursing interventions and will assess levels of staff competence, developing a robust programme of teaching and training. Nurses will contribute to the assessment of students on admission and following any change in needs, will work with external agencies to facilitate specialist clinics and immunisation programmes, will support the development and review of student care plans, will manage medication within the school and maintain student's emergency protocols.
They require staff who are confident in their understanding of evidence-based practice and who are able to prioritise their work to provide direct care, assessment and support when required. As the role will involve training and mentoring to develop staff competencies, they are looking for staff who have the mentorship qualification as this would be desirable, or nurses with an interest in training others.
They celebrate diversity and recognise the benefit of having a multidisciplinary team. They therefore welcome applications from nurses within Adult, Children or Learning Disability fields. To meet the needs of their students, they are particularly interested in applicants with experience in respiratory care, tracheostomy care, suctioning, enteral feeds, jejunostomy and gastrostomy care. In return, you will be provided with regular support and clinical supervision, support with validation, a bespoke induction and a rewarding and interesting post.
