School Night Matron - Andover, Hants

Our client is a highly successful and vibrant co-educational prep school for boarders and day pupils, aged 3 to 13, based in the beautiful Test Valley of Hampshire and set in 70 acres of open parkland and landscaped woodland. They are just off the
A303, close to Andover, Stockbridge, Salisbury and Winchester
 
They seek to appoint a Night Matron to join their hard-working and supportive Surgery and boarding teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, caring and flexible individual to provide their pupils with excellent care outside of the normal school day.  The position is part-time and term-time only, with single occupancy overnight accommodation and meals provided during working time. The Night Matron, when on duty overnight, is expected to be awake only when called upon by the boarders.
 
Hours of work are as follows:
 
Sunday 13:00 - 23:00 on duty (16:00 start on the 18 exeat weekends)
 23:00 - 07:00 on call for boarders
 
Monday 07:00 - 09:00 on duty
 16:00 - 23:00 on duty
 23:00 - 07:00 on call
 
Tuesday 07:00 - 09:00 on duty
 16:00 - 23:00 on duty
 23:00 - 07:00 on call
 
Wednesday 07:00 - 09:00 on duty
 
The ideal candidate will be available to start as soon as possible in the New Year and should be able to demonstrate:
 
Strong pastoral skills with a caring and patient manner
The ability to follow procedures and instructions
The ability to prioritise workload and conflicting demands
Good communication skills with a variety of stakeholders, including parents, pupils, staff, school doctors and colleagues
The ability to demonstrate professional judgement
Good administration and IT skills, including use of email
A good standard of literacy and numeracy
Experience of working within a boarding school environment is desirable but not essential
RGN/RSCN (children's nurse) or health care assistant qualifications and/or experience is desirable but not essential
First Aid / Paediatric First Aid qualifications or the ability and willingness to obtain them
Experience of providing first aid care and managing minor injuries
A flexible approach to work
A willingness to learn new skills
A commitment to continued professional development including knowledge and
understanding of relevant policies and best practice
Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality
